About Aimee Cockburn, LMFT
As a Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT) I am dedicated to working with couples and families. Witnessing a couple work their way back to each other is such an honor to be a part of. MFT’s have a unique perspective on couples and families in that we view individuals in their larger contexts, and we see the cycles and patterns that hold us back in our relationships. We work through the muck together to get to a place of understanding and healing.
Working with individuals is equally close to my heart. We need to do the work on ourselves in order to show up in relationship on a path of healing. There are many paths to healing and I incorporate several from traditional therapies like Person Centered and Imago or Experiential, to paths of healing like yoga, meditation, and pillars of health and wellness. Drawing on my background in sociology, psychology, marriage and family therapy, humanistic psychology, nutrition, and yoga philosophy, we will work to create a plan together.
Above all, the most important thing is to provide a safe space for all to heal.
I have been in the field of helpers and healers for nearly 30 years. I began my training as an individual counselor, then worked with families, domestic violence, and anger management. I have worked with teens in schools and clinics, and I have worked with parents. Twelve years ago, I started teaching sociology and psychology in several local colleges. I look forward to sharing my training and holistic approach to mental health with you and your family.
